Adalah, which translates to ‘justice’ in Arabic, is Yemen’s leading non-aligned nongovernmental legal organisation. Headquartered in London with operations in Washington D.C. and Aden, we believe that upholding the rule of law is vital to the stability of nation states. In Yemen, we work to counter the challenges presented by conflict, using international legal expertise and local knowledge.
Adalah offers a unique combination of legal expertise, field analysis and academic research which it combines with its political knowledge and strategic thinking. We understand the practical challenges facing those working in conflict areas like Yemen, and have strong language abilities, cultural and political understanding which enables us to adapt to the ever changing and risky dynamics of this conflict.
With our extensive links to leading experts in international law and our strong ties and networks with different international and local organizations in Yemen, we have been able to impact policy and alleviate the suffering of civilians.
Our work address legal voids that are vital to ensuring the rule of law during conflicts. We pride ourselves on the exceptional quality and variety of its projects, trainings and research.
All our projects are specifically tailored in order to meet the needs of both organisations and individuals working on the ground in conflict areas, address wider legal voids and gaps often found in conflicts as well as empower the communities affected with the development of the rule of law.

Through our team of researchers, lawyers, on-the-ground trainers and human rights advocates, Adalah has made its mission to utilise its legal expertise and contextual knowledge to address current and emerging legal needs in Yemen.
We are committed to developing the best talent in the field and actively recruit from the countries in which we operate. Through our people, we are committed to being the leading organisation on Yemen's legal landscape, linking international policy to local civil society development and capacity building.
